Horex VR6 Classic
. .Horex has shown a new Classic model based on the VR6 roadsterwith the same 1218cc six-cylinder motor but a host of cosmeticchanges that have come about as a result of customer feedback.
Horex has responded to calls from owners for a more oldschool look with wire spoked wheels, a new red paintjob and anengine that has greater torque thanks to a redesigned exhaustsystem.
The firm’s Fritz Rombach said: "They wanted to see a Horex ina design that replicates the brand icons. We responded with thenew Classic model.”
The Horex motor already boasts impressive torque figures butfor the Classic model this has been moved lower down the revrange.
Romabach added: “We reworked our six-cylinder to focus onunsurpassed riding enjoyment on winding country roads. Ourengineers added interference tubes to the bends of the 6-in-2exhaust system to reduce backpressure and improve the torquecurve at lower engine speeds. This was complemented by a newengine mapping that increases torque in the low and mediumengine speed ranges.
“The Horex VR6 Classic pays atribute to the legendary bikes originally built in Bad Homburg,”says Peter Naumann, who helped design both new Horex models.“The classic Horex red in combination with silver accent stripesis reminiscent of the famous Horex road and racing models.”
Beside the two-tone color scheme, the VR6 Classicsports a new stitched seat and tubeless spoked wheels from Kineo.
The 6-into-2 exhaust system has been revised toreduce back-pressure and improve torque at lower rpms. Along with a new enginemapping to improve low- and mid-range performance, the VR6 Classic claims lowerpeak performance figures than the original Roadster at 124.7 hp at 8500 rpm and88.5 ft-lb. at 7000 rpm.
“We reworked our six-cylinder to focus onunsurpassed riding enjoyment on winding country roads. Something the new Horex‘Classic’ masters with ease in sixth gear,” says Fritz Rombach, Horexvice-president of sales & services.
